Persepolis

I think that the comic form is very effective at conveying emotion and atmosphere. One is instantly able to feel for her is she is shown crying. The emotion is unmistakable. Obviously it is possible to do this in writing as well, but it is different, and drawing is her medium. It makes the story far more engaging.
