mcintosh
One of the problems that I find with this article is the fact that I would not say the advantages are not necessarily just white privileges because many of them simply rely on the area that a person lives. The first advantage that she lists is not an advantage to me because I mainly see myself as Asian rather than white so in this area that I live in, it is difficult to always find Asian company to be around. The fact that McIntosh would be able to purchase or rent at a decent price in some area would not be an advantage to me because housing in the Santa Cruz area is expensive. Plus it doesn’t help that basically anywhere in California, housing is expensive for just about anyone. I would say that people of my race being widely represented is a disadvantage because Asian are not widely represented in news or media. I am also not told that much about Asians except from the little information that I find for myself. One advantage that I do have is knowing that my skin color will not work against my financial stability. If anything, the fact that I am part Asian could influence better financial stability. It is questionable whether or not my race would be said to be the reason why I would do well on a challenging situation because many times, people attribute my doing well to my racial background. I could also say that any legal trouble I get into would not be due to my race.
