Satrapi
I don't know how I did it ,but I read both books in two hours and I didn't realize it.I really liked the pictures and the comic book style that it had.I am a visual learner and the way she drew the pictures gave me a broader idea and understanding of what was happening in her life. Her life kinda reminded me of my mom and how they were both oppressed by their culture and expected to do things they did not desire. I really got to see Satrapi point of view just by the way the book was formatted.
An update on my project........
I want my project to be an essay format, but with my own unique style of writing.I want it to be a sort of documentary on the invisible struggles that youths have to go through with gangs being a persuasive option....

Check out Cherrie Moraga's style of writing an "essay" in our reader, and also Juliana Spahr- who makes her essay work extremely personal. She has a lot of them on-line here: http://people.mills.edu/jspahr/essay.htm
