Strengthier

Hey Hunter,

Nice title. I would have used it myself, it's a great song!

Strength represented in my modern day society seems to be represented by much more than what we perceive it used to be for primal man. Instead of who is the best hunter, fastest runner, strongest athlete, strength is now represented and recognized purely by the $$$ carried in the pocket. We wonder why and are quickly confronted with the fact that money makes the world go 'round, an unavoidable reality that has been brewing in the globalization of major corporations and world economies within modern day society. I don't really see this progression of strength from physical and mental to monetary as a negative progression but instead one that comes with the increase of available money and increased influence of technology and innovation. Where does the future of man lie? Who knows. I wonder what the next marker of strength will be. Why can't it just be who has the biggest biceps? I'd be pretty far down the chain...So would Bill Gates!

Nietzche seems to account for all examples of strength in his simple statement that those who seek to gain happiness and satisfaction at no limits are the most profound examples of strength. Whether this pertains to a caveman outdoing a competitor for food or a corporate executive outdoing a competitor for a million dollar job/sale, it works for both. Nice observation and speculation Nietzche! The importance of living in the present is also a topic of discussion. Nietzche argues that those who live within the present will be more quickly and readily satisfied than those who spend time and thought on anything other than achieving happiness at that moment in time.

see ya'll in class,

Patrick
