Isaac- 2/4/07 Nieztche & Strength

How is strength represented in our culture?
In my culture strength is represented by men who don't have impotence problems, have well defined breasts (ie- prominent and developed pectorals) and are willing to let their bodies be used as cannon fodder for the advancement of capitalism in disguise as the greater good through military service. Is this not true strength?

How is strength represented in Nieztche?
I believe that Nieztche views strength as a quality a man has as a result of three things: skepticism, defiance, and trancendence. Strength comes from our ability to question all those forces in life which try to repress our inner desires and autonomy. Strength comes from refusing to chain ourselves to the shackles of morality and guilt that the aristocracy arbitrarily defines and places upon the unquestioning masses as a means of control. Lastly, strength comes from our trancendence of our social conditioning and animalistic nature.

PS: I didn't post something last week becaue blog was being a pain but if it matters, I suppose since I've decided to major in philosophy, the reason I'm being educated is so I can learn to drive a bus.
