Strength

in our culture (north american) strength is generally seen in terms of power. someone who has power has the strength to change the world to their liking. power is very important in our society, and so it makes sense that we would see someone with it as being particularly strong. another way that strength is represented in our society is through emotional and psychological stability. people who seem to lack this generally are not in a favorable place in this society (mental patients, howard dean, etc). whereas people who do have it are generally praised, like when steve irwin's family was dealing with his death, they went on a bunch of talk shows etc. and everyone was praising their strength to be able to deal with it. bah.

in Nietzsche, strength is seen as someone who follows themselves and denounces silly things like religion. they have to have a good sense of the master morality. also, it would generally help to be a nihilist with syphilis who goes crazy and, years after your death, your crazy sister publishes your works as nazi propaganda.
