Persopolis/ Problem
The use of the comic style made the book and the subject much more approachable. The illistrations clearly depicted emotion, which enabled clear character development, even in the fast paced storyline. However the comic strips limited the amount of detail to each event and made the story seem slightly disjointed because it glossed over several details that would normally be included in a book. The comic strips have the power to imply the general message but they also obsecure specific facts and don't allow for much discription or explanation.
The idea of an ally, an enemy, and a foil is interesting, but I don't know where I am going to go with the enemy and foil roles. I see the majority of the texts as an accumulation of knowledge and perspective that don't necessarily pertain to my life. Only a few texts can I draw connections to my life or apply them in an every day environment. I will end up writing some kind of poetry and reflecting on the development of my personal philosophy this quarter.
