In our culture examples of strength are around us all of the time. There are many different examples of strength, and some people can be strong in some ways and not others. Physical strength was the order of the weekend, I watched the Superbowl, and when you break it down it is a bunch of extremely large and strong men running into eachother so they can get a ball. What a representation of strength. Dont get me wrong though, I love football, and I am more optimistic about how strength is represented in our world. Strength to me is how one represents themselves. Self-confidence, and the ability to make decisions are much more accurate measures of strength than how much one can lift or how hard that man can hit that other man. There is a lot of strength gained with wealth, and much more gained with power. There is strength in numbers, and strength as one. Determination is also seen as a measure of strength. To me physical strength is much less important than mental strength.

In Nietzsche, strength is the ability to be self-aware and make decisions for oneself even if it only benefits oneself. He has two different views on strength, from the master or the person on top, strength is viewed as good and the only way to live. The slave sees strength as oppressive and bad.
