Frankenstein/Problems

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein confirms Rousseau's state of nature. When Rousseau contemplates the state of man in a time before civilization and man-made law, he imagines a place of free and equal people, all of which simply exist with neither conflict nor cooperation. These organisms certainly have a survival instinct, but have no attachement or drive for the love or friendship of others. They live in a sort of happy solitute, free of desire or greed. Rousseau believed that if a person was corrupt, it was becuase of society, not becuase it was their nature. Frankenstien's monster in born with natural intentions to simply exist, however, the monster is immediately shunned by it's own creator, making it into a sort of vile abortion. This drives the monster to swell with hatred and react violently to it's opressors. Frankenstein also partially confirm's Hobbe's state of war because the monster is essentially a machine, searching for satisfaction and avoiding discomfort, however, the monster does this becuase of society's constraints.

MEGA Problem: I am constantly trying to figure out how to live a life of meaning and purpose. I am also trying to surrender to the power of uncertainty, I constantly try to plan things... and find myself having a hard time in unstable/random environments, such as UC Santa Cruz. I am trying to figure out how to live in the moment, while at the same time never straying from a sense of path or purpose.
