San Jose

Hey, guys, my name is Emily, and I'm from the south of Campbell in San Jose.

This suburbia is a great place to raise kids, and a great place to grow up. But being at the heart of the Silicon Valley is taxing on the soul for many reasons, the most annoying of which is the obnoxious amount of people drawn from all over by Valley Fair, a member of the Westfield family of gargantuan malls. While it is true that malls are a great place to shop because of the variance of available merchandise, one cannot help feeling annoyed when, upon every visit, traffic is horrendous, parking is virtually a joust, and the number of people inside mimic the attendance at Rolling Stones concert. Situated immediately next to an on-ramp/off-ramp star for Highway 17 (aka I-880), VF is theoretically easily accessible. But in reality, this placement has created a problem rather than solving it. When it is mentioned that you will attempt to use these ramps, anyone who lives in or anywhere near San Jose can tell you that your journey will be at least five to ten minutes longer than it would be, had you chosen an alternate route. But the problem doesn't end there. Because Valley Fair and the famed Santana Row (fancy, expensive outdoor mall with apartments over it that burned down during construction, for those of you that live under rocks) are across the street from each other, it is impossible to drive down Stevens Creek, a street that should logically be a main fairway. This is especially annoying when one is on one side of the tangle, and needs to be on the other.

Hi! I'm Hunter, and I'm from the north of San Jose in Milpitas. I'm really glad that I'm not the only one who hates silicon valley traffic. See you in class!
